Director for New Faith Communities & Congregational Development, Detroit Conference

The Detroit Conference of The United Methodist Church seeks a qualified candidates for the position of Conference Director for New Faith Communities and Congregational Development.  The position includes pastoring an urban congregation to be developed as an incubator model for congregational renewal, along with conference staff responsibilities. Primary qualities being sought:

  • Motivated, team style entrepreneurial pastoral leader.
  • Experience and competency working in multi-cultural and multi-ethnic settings.
  • Training and experience in development of new faith communities and multiplication of existing congregations.

The position begins July 1, 2010.  The conference office and the congregation are in the City of Flint, MI.  Includes a parsonage, health insurance and pension. Must relocate to Flint. Camp Volunteer Medical Assistant

Camp Medical Help Needed! A volunteer medical assistant is needed to help the full-time nurse for weeks that United Methodist camps offer summer programs for mentally challenged adults. Wesley Woods, Jumonville and Camp Allegheny all offer camps for these individuals during two weeks of the summer. Each of these camp weeks has a full-time, volunteer nurse taking care of the medications and emergencies for the special needs campers. A second volunteer is needed each week.  Help is needed May 30 - June 5 at Wesley Woods; June 6 -12 at both Camp Allegheny and Wesley Woods; June 27- July 3 at Camp Allegheny and Jumonville; and July 18-24 at Jumonville.
