Affiliated Organizations

Many organizations are a part of or affiliated with the Western Pennsylvania Conference of The United Methodist Church. They provide a variety of services ranging from financial to social ministry. Learn more about these organizations by clicking on the links.

Financial and Stewardship Resources

  • United Methodist Foundation of Western PA offers a variety of stewardship services to churches, agencies, clergy and individuals.  The Foundation is a non-profit ministry established to provide United Methodists with resources to accomplish collectively more than can be accomplished alone. 

United Methodist Credit Union

  • Keystone United Methodist Federal Credit Union provides financial services to meet the needs of its members, who may be Western Pennsylvania United Methodist churches, clergy or laity.   Like many other credit unions, Keystone is a non-profit organization that is operated by and for its membership. The services include savings, certificates of deposit, checking, loans, mortgages, online operations, and even a good-grade student savings reward program. The Keystone office is located in the United Methodist Center in Cranberry Township. 

Eldercare Ministries/Homes

  • Arbutus Park Manor, near Johnstown, offers diversified housing options, health care and related services for mature adults to achieve a life style where fulfillment can be found in a secure, caring and Christian environment.
  • Wesbury United Methodist Community in Meadville provides individualized proactive health care and life enrichment services to assist mature adults in maintaining their independence, dignity and spiritual wholeness in a secure, Christian environment. 
  • Asbury Heights in Pittsburgh's South Hills has been for nearly a century a leader in offering older adults and their families residential living options and health care services. Asbury Heights is operated by United Methodist Services for the Aging.
  • Ruth M. Smith Center in Sheffield provides services to children from age 2 months through elderly adults. Services include  a licensed pre-school and daycare; community recreation programs; a licensed personal care home; food pantry; and a Warren County Head Start program. Smith Center operates under the guidance of the United Methodist Board of Global Ministries. Contact the Center at 814-968-3238 or rmsc@westpa.net.
  • Ward Home, since 1905, has offered housing and life skills support and training to at-risk youth in Allegheny County to enable them to maximize their potential as human beings to grow into self-reliant young adults.

Camps and Retreat Centers

  • Camp Allegheny, a year-round Christian retreat and camp facility, is located near Stoystown in the Laurel Highlands.
  • Jumonville is a year-round Christian camp and retreat center located  in the Laurel Highlands near Connellsville.
  • Olmsted Manor is an adult retreat center offering Christian hospitality and renewal opportunities within a sacred space. It's located on Route 6 in the northwestern Pennsylvania village of Ludlow.  
  • United Methodist House at Chautauqua is one of the denominational houses at the Chautauqua Instititution in southwestern New York state. During the nine-week summer season, it is a center for worship, fellowship and learning with internationally known speakers and experts.

  • Wesley Woods is a year-round Christian camp and retreat center in Grand Valley in northwestern Pennsylvania.

Social Services

  • Connellsville Area Community Ministries provides food, clothing, shelter and more to people in the Connellsville area from space in the Connellsville Community Center. To learn more about this Conference mission project, contact 724-626-1120 or connmin@verizon.net.
  • Erie United Methodist Alliance is a organization of United Methodist churches, laypersons, and pastors in the Erie-Meadville District organized in the name of Jesus Christ to meet the critical needs of people suffering from poverty and homelessness. 
  • United Methodist Human Services of Johnstown provides a multitude of social services to the people of the Johnstown United Methodist District to improve life in the name of Jesus Christ. Higher Education

  • Allegheny College, founded in 1788, is a national liberal arts college on a 540-acre campus in Meadville.
  • Otterbein College, in Westerville, OH, is a nationally ranked, comprehensive college with a liberal arts tradition dating back to 1847.
  • West Virginia Wesleyan College, located in Buckhannon, WV, and founded in 1890, is firmly rooted in the liberal arts tradition and closely related to The United Methodist Church.

  • Cokesbury Bookstore, official bookstore for The United Methodist Church, offers books, curriculum, robes, worship materials, furniture and more for churches from two Western PA locations:
